    POSITION SUMMARY:   Under the general supervision of the Engine Sales Manager, strives to achieve departmental sales goals through direct personal sales contact with customers on all diesel and spark-ignited engines going into a standby or prime application within assigned territory, all diesel and spark-ignited engines sold to contractors within assigned territory, and sales to local contractors for projects outside the Company’s assigned territory with the appropriate approval.



    1. Locates and becomes informed on all standby and prime projects to be built within our territory or projects outside our territory involving contractors or engineering firms within our territory.
    2. Call on electrical engineers to provide technical information on the Company’s offered products to influence specifications towards Caterpillar.
    3. Projects involving brokers, exporters, other Caterpillar dealers or other projects outside our assigned territory will be assigned by the Engine Sales Manager on a project by project basis.
    4. Review plans and specifications and interpret specific job requirements and scope of work. Prepare quote worksheets, obtain vendor and shop quotations, and generate cost proposals with scope of work.
    5. Responsible for processing new orders, including but not limited to, entering of orders into project management system, completing purchaser’s agreement, and obtaining approval from credit department.
    6. Responsible to generate and refer leads for rental generators, load banks or compressors to the rental department.
    7. Responsible to generate and refer leads for maintenance contracts to the PSSR.
    8. Responsible to generate and obtain approval of equipment submittals.
    9. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications.
    10. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.



    1. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    2. Must have at least three (3) years’ experience with EPG equipment sales in the construction/electrical industry.
    3. Must have a valid Class “A” Hawaii State Drivers’ License with a good driving record.
    4. Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
    5. Must have good communication skills and proper business etiquette.
    6. Ability to multitask and establish priorities.
    7. Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
    8. Ability to maintain a flexible attitude and approach towards assignments and successfully operate under ambiguous guidelines
    9. Computer skills required; must have good working knowledge of MS Office programs.


    TESTING REQUIREMENTS:  Applicants may be required to pass a written and/or oral examination before being considered for employment in this position.
